This is the true measure of the change we make

The Women’s Organisation measures its social impact and how it creates social value through a social accounting process. We do this so that we can accurately and impartially assesses our performance, and measures the impact we are having on the lives of our service users.

Social Value

The concept of Social Value has recently become more prominent with its admission into law through the  Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 which aims to achieve “additional benefit to the community from a commissioning/procurement process over and above the direct purchasing of goods, services and outcomes”. The Act requires consideration of Social Value in the spending of public funds enabling and facilitating  public sector organisations who are committed to achieving greatest public benefit and maximum social impact whilst rewarding creativity, innovation, best value and  quality in service delivery, the opportunity to factor these qualities in the procurement process. The Act also reinforces those duties, already upon local authorities to achieve best value by considering social, economic and environmental value

Measuring Social Impact and Value

Social accounting and audit allows us an organisation to build on its existing monitoring, documentation and reporting systems to develop a process whereby we can account fully for our social, environmental and economic impacts, report on its performance and draw up an action plan to improve on that performance. By using the social accounting and audit process we can understand our social impact on those that benefit and build in accountability by engaging with our key stakeholders.  In this way we can prove its value and improve our performance and impact.

Our social accounts are independently audited through a nationally recognised framework, the process provides a way to prove how we are making a difference in the work that we do.
